FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS WE GET HERE AT C1 BOILERS

How much should a full boiler service cost?

A full annual boiler service in the UK typically costs between £80 and £120, with the national average sitting around £87–£100 including VAT. The exact price depends on your boiler type, location, and whether you use a local independent engineer or a national provider. Gas combi boilers tend to be the cheapest to service (from around £70), while oil boilers sit at the higher end (£100–£180) due to the additional checks involved.

What do they actually do in a boiler service?

A boiler service is a thorough safety and performance check carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and it typically takes 40–60 minutes. The engineer will start with a visual inspection of the boiler, pipework, and controls, then remove the boiler casing to inspect and clean internal components including the burner, heat exchanger, spark probe, and main injector. They’ll check the flue for blockages and carry out a flue gas analysis to measure combustion efficiency. Gas pressure and flow rates are tested and adjusted if needed, all safety devices (pressure relief valves, thermostats, sensors) are checked, and a gas leak test is performed on the boiler and connecting pipework. Finally, the boiler is fired up to confirm everything is operating correctly, and the engineer completes a Benchmark service record documenting all findings. If any issues are found, they’ll flag them and provide a separate quote for repairs.

How often should boilers be serviced?

Your boiler should be serviced once every 12 months  this is the universal recommendation from all major manufacturers including Worcester Bosch, Ideal, and Vailant.
